19 July 2019
Sweco Hydroprojekt further strengthens its position within Central Asia in water management.

The EBRD is addressing water supply operations in the Kyrgyz Republic which are characterised  by severely deteriorated assets for water supply and wastewater collection; very limited wastewater treatment and unreliable water supply. In 2014, Tokmok municipality approached the EBRD with a request to finance the rehabilitation of the water supply and selected wastewater improvements in the city.

Sweco Hydroprojekt succeeded with its bid to take on the project interventions which primarily focus on:

  1. the rehabilitation of the water supply system and selected wastewater improvements;
  2. the improvement of the revenue basis by using consumption based tariffs for a more efficient use of drinking water;
  3. the improvement of the overall efficiency of the company, including billing and collection rates;
  4. the improvement of the financial and operational management.

Sweco Hydroprojekt will support Tokmok Water Company in all aspects of project implementation including preparation of design, technical specifications, tender documentation, assistance with tendering, tender evaluation and contract finalisation, administration and supervision of the contract implementation including the implementation of the Environmental and Social Action Plan.

With the involvement of Sweco Hydroprojekt, the Water Company will have access to the best practice in the implementation of the project and procurement of works, as well as advice on specific technical issues including E&S requirements.
